Southampton Seafarers Centre 

The Southampton Seafarers Centre was opened in April 2005 and is the only seafarers’ free welfare facility in the Port of Southampton and is open to seafarers, retired seafarers, their families and dependants. 

The Centre is home to the resident full time Chaplains whose work involves the pastoral care of seafarers both in the Centre and during their daily ship visits. Appreciating the quick turnaround times of vessels they also visit ships each day to offer international telephone and SIM cards, mobile phone top ups and money transfer facilities. In addition they offer woollen hats and gloves and library books to the ship’s crew. 

The Centres’ facilities include television, telephone booths, an internet café and Wifi services for visiting seafarers to maintain contact with their homes and families. Money transfer facilities are also available at the Centre. A small shop and bar sells international SIM cards, mobile phone top ups, snacks, toiletries and sundry items. There is a games area for table tennis and pool and quiet areas and rooms to relax away from the noise and bustle of shipboard life.
